Head of the Boarding School

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Head of the Boarding School to join our vibrant internationally-minded community.  

Role Description

The post holder leads in the holistic development of all boarders. They ensure that the boarding experience is one that is caring, safe, enriching, and responsive to the needs and welfare of students. The Head of Boarding is responsible for the coordination and induction of staff, the security of the board house, the induction and monitoring of students, the scheduling of activities, and promotes the values and vision for the school within this section of the school.  They assist the Head of Middle and Senior School to develop, review and evaluate Action Plans, and provide an annual report to the Head of School on relevant issues and progress.   

There is an expectation that the Head of Boarding will be present on campus outside of the school timetabled day, to support the boarding life of the school and to discharge their role effectively. In exchange for this the post holder will either be given rent-free accommodation on site. 

This is a full-time role albeit working at times which are not within normal office hours.

• Plan and conduct the life at the boarding school, cooperate with students, provide individualized support, regularly cooperate with students’ parents;  
• Be an enthusiastic team player, willing to go above a beyond to facilitate the experience of the young people in your care.     
• Be engaged with the school ethos, thinking creatively and reflectively within an open, honest and hardworking team, while keeping the needs of the young people in your care firmly at the center.     
• Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students and contribute positively to the life of the boarding school.     
• Be part of our vibrant community.     
• Participate in teachers’ professional development, faculty, and staff meetings.     
• Collaboration in vertical and horizontal planning will be an expectation.  

Candidate’s qualifications and experience:    

• Bachelor or Master’s degree;
• Two or more years of experience at a boarding school;  
• Experience working in a context in which students are studying in English, but for whom English may be a second language;
• Fluent level of English.
