Twyford CE High School is a highly successful and oversubscribed school with a very large and high-achieving Sixth Form. The main purpose of the Head of Year 13 role is to ensure all students in the year group are consistently and effectively supported to make outstanding academic progress within the wider context of their full personal, social and spiritual development. In setting standards and expectations the Head of Year 13 will work closely with the Head of Sixth Form, which is an SLT role. The team also includes a Deputy Head of Year and a Sixth Form administrator, as well as parallel Year leaders for Year 12.

The shortlisted candidates are likely to be highly successful teachers with experience in implementing or supporting strong pastoral strategies as the role combines leadership of effective curriculum & assessment with a very wide range of pupil support issues. Curriculum, Pastoral & Wider Learning Programmes - directed by the Head of Key Stage 5 - must challenge excite, stimulate and challenge all students, including the most able. As a Church of England school we are also committed to a very distinctive Christian ethos, and our Head of Year 13 will take a lead role in this supporting this.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Proven record of outstanding results.
  • Outstanding skills as a classroom teacher.
  • An excellent record of pastoral support as a Middle Leader (curriculum or pastoral).
  • An excellent record of developmental work in current role.
  • Experience of curriculum and assessment (design and development).
  • Experience of managing or implementing pastoral systems and initiatives.
  • Experience of managing others / managing change.
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement.
  • A commitment to the Christian ethos of the school.

Twyford CE High School, Acton

Twyford CE High School was set up by the LDBS in 1981. The school has an excellent reputation and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and SIAMS (April 2017). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas. Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 975 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 500 students to the Sixth Form.

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum which has been devised by staff within the four schools. The Trust is also the hub of a Teaching School Alliance and prides itself on the standards of peer-led CPD within a dynamic culture of self-improvement.

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a compact CoE MAT which comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community.
