Applications are invited for Head of Year. It is expected that the successful applicant will take responsibility for Year 8 from September 2018.
Queen Elizabeth’s School is located in North London on the edge of the Green Belt and is one of the country’s leading and most historic selective maintained schools for boys. It was founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1573, following a request of a charter for the School by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
Heads of Year are responsible for securing pupils’ rounded development by celebrating successes and providing support in relation to overall well-being, academic performance, wider school involvement, and general conduct. They play a vital role in the delivery of an excellent, bespoke education to our boys.
This role requires outstanding communication skills, energy and a firm commitment to upholding the School’s standards and expectations. As well as being a good administrator, the person appointed will be able to deal effectively with staff, parents and outside agencies and lead a team of tutors and year group decisively and by example.

About Queen Elizabeth's School
In 1573 Elizabeth I issued a Charter “for the establishment of the Free Grammar School of Queen Elizabeth in Barnet for the education, bringing up and instruction of boys in Grammar and other learning and the same to continue for ever.” Today QE remains a non-denominational, non-fee-paying, selective School with a mission of producing confident, able and responsible young men and, as such, continues to reflect the essential tenets of our Tudor Charter. The School has a reputation for academic excellence and our expectations are high: QE boys excel at A Level and go on to places at leading universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
To understand the factors behind our success, it is important to grasp two essential characteristics of the School. Firstly, QE is a meritocracy. We offer open access, welcoming boys on academic merit, irrespective of parental income, residential location or religious background.
