Plumstead Manor is a thriving girls’ school of 1,500 students in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, with 300 students in a mixed Sixth Form. We are seeking an outstanding teacher, who shares both our vision and our positive ethos promoting excellence and equality for all, to become a Head of Year. You will play a leading role in the implementation and realisation of the School Plan, setting the highest possible expectations in all aspects of school life. You should have a passion for providing high quality and personalised pastoral care for young people. You should have experience and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary way, to ensure we provide a safe and happy community for our young people.

Heads of Year at Plumstead Manor are responsible for a year group of 240 students, split into 8 tutor groups. They lead a team of tutors and are responsible for the overall welfare and care of young people in that year group. They have a clear responsibility in the achievement of young people, and thus this is very much a role about linking pastoral and curriculum priorities in seeking to get the very best outcomes for every young person. We are open to deciding the exact age group of the students this post will be responsible for depending on the experience and skill set of the successful candidate.

About Plumstead Manor School

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and gradually move to being fully co-educational by 2022. 

We are a large, inclusive, comprehensive school and have capacity for 1,500 students aged 11-18. We have our own Sixth Form of around 300 students and welcome students from our own cohort as well as students from within the local area. Our students progress onto the full range of future pathways, including medicine and veterinary science courses at the most competitive universities and high-quality apprenticeships.
