Governors of The Marvell College require an excellent qualified teacher to join our pastoral leadership team as a Head of Year. High quality, evidence based pastoral care sits at the heart of our restorative culture and has been integral in delivering pastoral and academic outcomes above national benchmarks in recent years.
We are seeking a teacher who is an effective classroom practitioner with a track record of delivering strong academic outcomes. Drive, unwavering positivity, a commitment to professional learning and an unrelenting belief that all children can achieve well are essential to the role. Heads of Year are central leaders within the Academy.
Experienced applicants will have the opportunity to refine and develop existing leadership skills as they progress towards senior leadership. Less experienced applicants will benefit from the support of highly effective school and National Leaders in Education. Our pastoral team is led by an excellent Deputy Headteacher and includes Assistant Headteachers, Heads of Year, Assistant Heads of Year, Achievement Mentors and fully qualified Mental Health Professionals.
Working with the wider pastoral team, the successful applicant will play a key role in refining and delivering the pastoral curriculum to ensure that provision in the Academy is highly unique to the broad and individual needs of pupils, leading to excellent personal, social and academic outcomes.
The Marvell College is part of the Hull Collaborative Academy Trust and works in formal partnership with St Mary’s College, Hull. This unique and formidable partnership has seen a rapid and sustained improvement in outcomes in recent years. We are a truly authentic Academy and place high value on teamwork and evidence based continuing professional development.

The Marvell College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in the East Riding of Yorkshire, serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Kingston upon Hull has approximately 1129 students on record.
The Marvell College was established in 1953. Formerly Barham High School for girls and Jervis High School for boys, the schools later combined as one co-educational establishment and was renamed Andrew Marvell School. The secondary school converted to academy status in 2016 and changed names to The Marvell College. £27 million has been invested into learning facilities across the academic departments, which include a fully equipped gym, music recording studio, a dance and drama studio and science and eco garden.
