We are looking to appoint a passionate, ambitious and innovative Head of Year to nurture and develop the learning experiences of a cohort of students as they progress through their five years of secondary education.

This could potentially begin by facilitating a smooth transition from primary school into Year 7 and culminate in ensuring that every student realises their full potential in their GCSE exams, taken in Year 11.  This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to lead a team of Form Tutors to make a real difference to the academic and pastoral progress of every student.

Term:  37 hours per week, 40 weeks (Term time + 2 weeks), permanent

Working Day:   Monday – Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm, Friday 8.00am - 3.30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch each day.

This role is challenging yet highly rewarding and it will give the right person a chance to be a key part of a busy secondary school and make a real difference to the lives of our students.  We are looking for someone who has experience in a pastoral role, and possesses drive and determination, is proactive and shows initiative. We want someone with high levels of emotional intelligence and can work both one-to-one with a student, yet also has the presence and personality to engage a whole year group in an assembly.

We welcome candidates who share our belief, that our diverse and amazing students deserve the very best! Therefore, the successful candidate will:

  • Play a part in embedding our shared vision and ethos across all areas of the College
  • Be a TCOLC Character role model, embodying our four pillars: Intellectual, Moral, Community and Performance
  • Ensure students are well supported to develop the knowledge and behaviours that will enable them to flourish, even in the face of challenges
  • Be passionate about working in an inclusive, multi-faith and multi-cultural community and understand the importance of engaging parents/carers and community leaders in the education of our students
  • Will always act in the best interests of children through ensuring highly effective safeguarding procedures
  • Be a team player, who relishes the opportunity to work with colleagues across the whole College
  • Be highly motivated and demonstrate an ability to learn.
