We are looking to appoint a highly skilled and dedicated leader who is able to inspire students to achieve their very best at a personal and academic level.

The successful candidate will possess the necessary interpersonal skills thus enabling them to establish trusting, supportive and effective working partnerships with young people, parents and carers.

We are looking for a Head of Year who:

  • Will oversee and support the pastoral and academic progress of the students in their year group, taking the strategic lead role to deliver student success
  • Will support, challenge and engage a diverse cohort of students, enriching their learning experience, maximising their potential and raising attainment

We can offer:

  • A culture where we will encourage you to be enterprising, forward thinking and play an active part in our school improvement
  • Committed teams of staff at all levels

We started the new academic year strongly following our best set of results in 4 years. We have increased our Basics measure of English & Maths GCSE grade 4+ with a Progress 8 score of -0.06 that’s a real school improvement and we have seen a significant increase in the number of students staying with us into sixth form.

After a period of instability at the Academy we are pleased to say that our journey of improvement is well underway.  We have been joined by some outstanding teachers who will help us ensure that our Year 11 and sixth form students achieve even better results in 2018. We are committed to providing a well-rounded curriculum, inspiring and effective teaching, supportive structures and a positive environment for our learners.

Sir Herbert Leon Academy opened in September 2012 and is part of Academies Enterprise Trust, the largest nationwide, multi-academy sponsor in the country.  We firmly believe that all young people deserve to become world class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a world class educational environment, which has the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up to date resources available to them.

If you share our vision and values then we would be very excited to hear from you!

As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.   You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, pension scheme and childcare vouchers.

This position is required for September 2018.  Interviews are scheduled to take place as soon as possible after the closing date.

Closing date: Friday 29 June 2018.

Being a relatively small secondary school, Sir Herbert Leon offers an environment where staff can build strong bonds with both colleagues and students. In an underinvested community, educators have the chance to inspire and raise aspirations of their students. We encourage our teachers to play multiple roles beyond just educators—like mentors and motivators.

We are a continuously growing school, striving to make overall improvements to the academy, student grades and changing the overall expectation of working in Bletchley. Without the support of talented staff, continuing that transition will be challenging.

Staff wellbeing is our priority, as well as our amazing benefits, we also encourage Sir Herbert Leon staff members to make the most out of the onsite gym and swimming pool as well as the benefits of being a part of one of England’s largest trusts.

Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes has excellent rail connections to the rest of the UK.  Trains run from Milton Keynes Central to London Euston every 5-15 minutes, with the fastest journeys taking just 34 minutes.  There is a brand new dual carriageway linking Milton Keynes to the M1.

There are good commuter links to London, Cambridge, Oxford and the Midlands.
