Dragon SchoolOxfordshire

The Governing Body of Dragon School seeks a new Head to build on the substantial progress made by Dr Crispin Hyde-Dunn during his four year tenure.

The Dragon is recognised as one of the leading preparatory schools in the UK, offering day and boarding co-education to over 800 pupils aged from 4-13. Situated in the heart of Oxford, the Dragon is known for its strong community values, encouraging an ethos of ‘relaxed rigour’ and offering outstanding pastoral care. These values underpin an ambitious and innovative academic and co-curriculum, in which every pupil is encouraged to find their passion, develop their individuality and flourish. Dragons go on to major senior schools UK wide, many winning scholarships in both academic and co-curricular subjects, and Old Dragons are represented in various fields of public life. A great school never stands still.

This role represents an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual, working with the support of a strong governing body, dedicated common room and engaged parents, to lead the School into its next phase of development.

Applications are encouraged from experienced and successful heads whose values and ambitions align with the culture and ethos of the Dragon. Details of the School and of the experience, qualities and skills needed to take on this important Headship are outlined in the candidate brief.

The Dragon is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Dragon is an equal opportunities employer. We therefore encourage candidates to apply irrespective of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion and belief, gender identity, sex or sexual orientation.
