On the appointment of Dr Paul Owen to be Head of Stockport Grammar School, after eight years outstanding service, the Governors invite applications for the post of Head of Birkdale School, to take effect from September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Birkdale is an independent day school for boys aged from 4 to 18, with a coeducational sixth form, altogether amounting to 800 pupils. The School is located in south-west Sheffield, close to the city centre and with the stunning Peak District on the doorstep.
This is a wonderful opportunity to lead a school clearly focused on delivering academic excellence, and which is renowned for its friendly and caring community and broad extra-curricular programme. Since the Schools foundation, the Christian faith has been at the heart of Birkdale and, whilst being up-front about this, the School encourages an inclusive and safe environment which is open to children of all faiths and none.
The Governors seek to recruit a committed Christian with outstanding leadership and management capabilities and the ability to help shape and deliver the Schools strategic vision. Candidates will need excellent interpersonal skills, combining the ability to inspire young people, win the confidence of parents and carry the respect of the Prep and Senior School staff common rooms.
