Head Teacher required for St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

The Governors of this “Good” two form entry Catholic primary school are seeking to appoint an inspirational Head Teacher who is ready to accept the challenge of leading the school into the next stages of its development, building on the firm foundations already established and being a key player in the development of a nursery and pre-school which opened in 2015.

The school has a specialism in Special Education Needs and Inclusion, as such it is a flagship school for working with vulnerable families. The school also has excellent staff retention and is very well presented having had further refurbishment and IT upgrades over the summer. It is a Local Authorities school of choice therefore will be converting to a two form entry school from September 2016.

Example core drivers for the new Headteacher will be to embed high-quality teaching and learning enabling pupils to reach national expectations or beyond and to strengthen the capacity of leadership within the school.

The successful appointed candidate will:

• Be a practising Catholic to continue and develop the distinctive Catholic school ethos
• Be able to communicate a clear strategic vision to inspire pupils, staff, parents and Governors
• Have a strong commitment to maintain and raise standards in teaching and learning taking the school to its next stage of development
• Have proven management and leadership skills
• Have a warm and approachable personality with a good sense of humour
