Job overview
The School is a department of Durham Cathedral and expresses a central aspect of its mission. The Head is a member of the Cathedral Foundation and with other senior colleagues in the Cathedral makes a vital contribution to its outreach. This is the context within which the Head is responsible for setting the direction and safeguarding the aims, values and Christian ethos of The Chorister School. This includes academic standards, pastoral care, health and safety, safeguarding and welfare, and all-round provision for the children. S/he is also responsible for pupil recruitment, budgetary control, liaison with parents, staff recruitment and welfare. Within this, support for the Cathedral choristers is a particular focus of the role.
