Teaching ServiceOberon High School serves the town and surrounding districts of semi-industrial rural Oberon. The small and friendly school has a total enrolment of 205 with 21 identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, provides a broad curriculum in collaboration with its community, preparing students for both academic and vocational pathways.
The school encourages and rewards student achievement across a wide range of areas, as well as supporting student welfare through a variety of programs. The school's excellent facilities are extended by significant use of adjacent community facilities including sporting fields, an indoor tennis complex and a heated swimming pool.
The school has a proud record of students who aim for university study achieving entry to courses of their choice, however, we also value those who aspire to trade pathways or alternate post school employment and training aspirations. The school has a broad scope of programs in place to cater for a wide variety of students ensuring that inclusion leads to students maximising their potential and ultimately reaching their post school goals.
The school has great support from community with school programs supported by local business and industry whilst there is valuable sponsorship from groups who wish to assist individual students achieve to their best.
Oberon High School runs a compressed Stage 6 curriculum and has done so since 2015. This alternate system for HSC completion has been successful at our school and allows a far broader curriculum choice for students.
- Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- High level interpersonal skills and capacity to lead programs that nurture positive and productive relationships across the greater local community.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead a combined English/HSIE/Performing Arts faculty ensuring all Department of Education and NESA requirements are met through rigorous and systematic practices that ensure every member of the faculty understands their professional responsibilities and how to act on them appropriately.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead faculty analysis of data and evidence of learning, to support colleagues in delivering quality teaching with engaging and creative solutions that have a sustained impact on every student.
- Demonstrated capacity to be a dynamic member of the school’s executive, providing strategic leadership that will help create a climate of school improvement that supports the attainment of the school’s strategic directions.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
