Position Information 

Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, Tumbi Umbi Campus has an enrolment of 1174 students, with 152 students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. It is a dynamic and inclusive middle years campus. We work constructively with nine partner schools delivering quality education to the local community from Preschool to Year 12 and beyond. Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, Tumbi Umbi Campus provides innovative and inclusive programs that engage learners in age and stage appropriate experiences, designed to extend their aspirations. Staff are committed to providing an innovative curriculum and extra curricula activities within a safe, supportive setting. The campus’ wellbeing focus is based on clear, consistent boundaries, high expectations and personal recognition for students and staff. Its three key actions are focused on relationships, routines and rituals that build and strengthen connections. The school has strong links with the local Kuriwa AECG.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:

  • Approval to teach Year 7-10 English and demonstrated exemplary and innovative programming and classroom practice that maximises student learning outcomes across differentiated student cohorts.
  • Demonstrated capabilities to deliver quality teaching and learning practices to improve the outcomes of Aboriginal students and work with stakeholders to engage the community in line with the Aboriginal Education Policy.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading, developing, monitoring and evaluating; quality policies, programs, and practices to improve student engagement and learning for students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity for strong visible leadership skills with a focus on high impact professional learning to analyse internal and external data to inform, design and lead initiatives that support the school's strategic improvement plan.
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
