Argoed High School is a mixed, secondary comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in the county of Flintshire in north-east Wales. It is a state school that is a member of the connecting classrooms project, which helps the school collaborate with its link schools in Cyprus and Malta. A smaller than average size for a school of its type, the latest Estyn report identifies a student roll of 590 secondary school students, between the ages of 11-16.

The school was first built in 1978 as the first purpose built 11-16 school in the Clwyd County. While it has remained similar throughout its four decades as a school, the school’s time under its third headteacher saw the construction of a new reception and sports hall.

Pupils with additional learning needs are supported well and generally make progress in line with expectations. Attendance rates have improved gradually during the last four years and are in line with modelled outcomes. The attendance of pupils eligible for free school meals compares well with that of similar pupils in the family and nationally.”
