Head Teacher

Salary Range £86,040 - £99,660

Required for September 2023

The current Head Teacher is retiring after successfully leading the school for 10 years and leaves behind a very strong senior leadership team and a supportive, collaborative environment. The school achieved excellent GCSE outcomes in the Summer of 2022.

The Trustees are looking to recruit a successful school leader. Judged ‘Good overall’ with Outstanding features by Ofsted in November 2018, the school currently has 850 students on roll. Eggar’s School is situated in a beautiful 38-acre site, in the market town of Alton which is on the very edge of the South Downs National Park.

We are very proud of our nearly 400-year history and our uniqueness. We have high standards of behaviour and courtesy and expect all staff members to treat students with fairness and compassion.

At Eggar’s we ‘encourage every individual to belong, to aspire, to achieve’. The school is highly inclusive and is dedicated to enabling all its students to achieve their full academic and personal potential. We are therefore looking to appoint a strong leader committed to excellence in teaching and learning with an in depth understanding of best practices in education.

Eggar's School is a co-educational academy school based in Hampshire for students aged 11-16.

It is situated at one end of the historic Wey Valley, beneath the wooded slopes of the Hampshire Downs. In 1968 the school moved from its original site to the modern buildings and spacious grounds it now occupies at Holybourne. In 2012 the school became an academy.

The school has a house system. Each student and member of staff is put into one of three houses.

Over the last 5 years the school has been one of the highest performing schools in Hampshire.
