Head Teacher

L26-L32 - £76,141 – £88,187 + Non-Residential Heads Allowance £8,586 (which requires two nights sleep-in as Senior on Duty per week). Permanent, Full-time post from April 2023 (upon appointment the opportunity to start earlier will be discussed).

 

A unique opportunity to join an OUTSTANDING School. The Ashley School Academy Trust is a very successful day/residential school for pupils with complex and moderate learning difficulties (MLD) Keystages 2 to 4.

You will be a strong and compelling communicator, with the ability to establish and develop a positive and purposeful organisational culture. You will be committed to the highest standards of education, with a clear understanding of excellence. You will have the experience, expertise and commitment to take the school forward and secure high performance across all aspects of provision, including our Residential Provision - Residence was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in January 2022.

 

The successful candidate will be a driven and inspirational leader with a proven track record of whole-school improvement.  

 

The position would suit either an existing Head Teacher looking for their next challenge, or a very experienced school leader looking for progression into their first headship.

 

The Ashley School Academy Trust was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in November 2017 and this headship presents an exciting opportunity to further the continual cycle of school improvement and meet the ever-diverse special educational needs and disabilities of our pupils.

 

The school is located in Lowestoft and is an active participant in the Suffolk Special Schools network.

We are an Outstanding outward looking and successful school for children with complex and moderate learning difficulties. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for their educational needs. These plans are mainly for moderate learning difficulties, however many pupils have associated disabilities such as speech, language and communication difficulties, autism and/or social, emotional, mental health needs. The school is not appropriate for conduct disorder or other social, emotional and behavioural/ mental health difficulties that present an ongoing significant risk to others

The Ashley School Academy Trust is a special school for both boys and girls from Year 3 to Year 11 and includes Residential provision.

We have specialist status for SEN Cognition & Learning. We are committed to providing exceptional opportunities for all our pupils.

The Ashley School Academy Trust has been awarded Outstanding in the most recent OfSTED inspection (November 2017) and our Residential provision was also rated as Outstanding in its most recent joint Ofsted/Social Care inspection (November 2021).
