Job overview

The Trustees are looking to appoint an outstanding Headteacher to lead our Plymouth campus from April or September 2018. We are a small, successful Y3-13 mixed independent school with a strong Christian ethos located in the coastal city of Plymouth in Devon.

The school has undergone a rapid and sustained transformation in recent times and is a strong member of the OneSchool organisation (the largest body of independent schools in the world). The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate capacity to take us even further. Self-Directed Learning and the emotional intelligence of students are now critical next steps for a talented leader.

The school was judged to be a “Good and improving school” by the SIS inspectorate in January 2016.

We are looking to appoint an experienced senior leader who can take the school from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’. The school benefits from extremely engaged students, a conducive teaching and learning environment and a talented and committed staff.

Visits to the school are actively encouraged.

To find out more about the school and the role and to book a visit, please contact Tim Bamber at Focus Learning Trust on 07384 240630 or at tim.bamber@focus-school.com. To request an application pack, please email flt@focus-school.com

Focus Learning Trust is committed to the welfare and safeguarding of children, and as such the post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

OneSchool Global UK Plymouth Campus is part of the global OneSchool network. Our vision of ‘learning to learn’ and ‘life-ready students’ is at the forefront of everything we do. We provide a broad curriculum for students from Years 3-13, always looking at the best way to keep our students at the cutting edge of education.

Our aspiration is to achieve outstanding in our next inspection and we are on the journey towards this. The bar has been set for the forthcoming GCSE and A-Level examinations, and both students and staff are going ‘above and beyond’ to make the achievement of this possible.

Why should I work at OneSchool Global UK Plymouth Campus?

  • Small class sizes
  • Keen students who are eager to learn
  • Forward-looking educational initiatives, with the use of digital learning
  • We are developing a journey of self-direction for our students
  • 6th Form students take a leadership role
  • Teachers are encouraged to develop their own learning journey via CPD at the unique Teacher Academy Head Office at Warwick

Focus Learning Trust was established as a registered charity in 2003 for the advancement of education, primarily providing leadership and support to its network of 23 UK, non-selective, independent schools which are registered as schools with a religious character, following the national curriculum.

We are part of the OneSchool Global network – one of the most extensive and progressive networks of schools and educational support services in the world. With schools in 20 countries worldwide, our 9000 students are benefiting from the amazing results of global collaboration and cutting-edge educational methods.

In April 2019, the entire OneSchool entity rebranded globally, hence our new look and our name change from Focus School to OneSchool Global UK. This better reflects our teaching and learning strategy and makes us truly one global school.
