Position Information 

Chester Hill High School (CHHS) is a comprehensive, co–educational secondary school situated in south western Sydney and is part of the Auburn Schools Educational Network. The school encompasses an Intensive English Centre. Chester Hill High School has a current student enrolment of 1210 (1016 mainstream, 194 IEC). The school is culturally diverse with 93% of students possessing a language background other than English. Chester Hill High School has 117 refugee or refugee–like students and a growing number of students with an Aboriginal background. The FOEI of the school is 165.  All students are encouraged to achieve in an environment that provides academic challenge and artistic, cultural and sporting opportunities. Specific Selection Criteria 

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

1. Demonstrated capacity to lead the development and implementation of innovative, high-quality teaching and learning programs which cater for the diverse needs of all students.

2. A visible leader with the capacity to work collaboratively as part of the school executive team to drive quality, evidence-based teaching initiatives related to the school’s strategic improvement plan.

3. Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and mentor staff at various stages in their professional development to foster quality teaching practices and a culture of high expectations.

4. Demonstrated ability to lead and support staff in the implementation of effective classroom management strategies that enable an engaging and safe learning environment.

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
