Location  - Sketchley School, Manor Way, Sketchley, Burbage, LE10 3HT                        Salary      £50,000 - £65,000    Hours      37.5 hours per week - Term Time

Do you enjoy a challenge and want to change the lives of young people on the autism spectrum?

Our schools provide specialist education for young people aged 8-19  with high functioning autism. Pupils may also have challenging behaviour  as a result of their communication difficulties and a lack of social  understanding. 

We are seeking to appoint a committed and reflective head teacher to  lead our vibrant and enthusiastic team at Sketchley School, Forest House  School and Progression House .

You will have the opportunity to work with fantastic students and a  motivated staff team of teachers, high level teaching assistants,  classroom support assistants and therapists.

Demonstrating excellent leadership skills, you will be a qualified  teacher with significant experience of special educational needs. You  will also have the ability to support student’s academic learning in an  autism friendly way, as well as supporting staff welfare, development  and progression.

You will also:

  • Share our passion for high aspiration and achievement for all
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be highly organised and adaptable
  • Be committed to working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.

The following skills would be of benefit to the role:

  • An in-depth knowledge of autism and experience of working with young people on the autism spectrum
  • Experience of leadership in an SEN environment, QTS and additional  relevant higher level qualifications, such as NPQH or Masters Degree.

Sketchley School provides specialist support for both boys and girls aged 8 to 19 years who are on the autistic spectrum, who may also have challenging behaviour, as a result of their communication difficulties and a lack of social understanding.

Located in the quiet villages of Sketchley in Leicestershire the school has excellent links with the M69/M6/M1 motorways and Hinckley train station.
