After 33 years of service (17 as Headmistress) our Head is retiring and Ruckleigh School is looking to appoint an inspirational and highly skilled replacement. Since the school was established 1909 the school has only appointed a total of four head teachers – demonstrating its ability to retain and develop members of staff.
With a well-established reputation for its warm, family atmosphere, Ruckleigh is a successful and thriving non-selective, co-educational, independent day prep school for 240 boys and girls aged from 3 to 11 years old. The school is renowned for its success in preparing pupils for entrance examinations into highly selective local independent and grammar schools with many children securing scholarships. In 2014 Ruckleigh was named Prep School of the Year by the Sunday Times “Parent Power” list of top schools.

The school’s new Head Teacher will have the vision to take an already successful school forward. They will be an inspirational educationalist with proven teaching experience within junior or preparatory school education. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent leadership qualities and strategic awareness to lead a highly professional team in the development of our pupils are also required.
