Strathaven Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated at the east side of Edinburgh. It is a community state school. The school website identifies a school roll of over 945 secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 12 and 18.

The school was built in the early 1900s, officially opening in 1905, created after a recognition by members of the local parish that there needed to be a central school, bringing two local schools of the time, Crosshill School and Ballgreen School, together into one single school. The building was designed by architect Alexander Cullen.
