Position Information 

Dubbo College Senior Campus delivers a wide range of Stage 6 courses examined or assessed for the Higher School Certificate and is part of Dubbo College, a three-campus collegiate. Dubbo College provides secondary education services to more than 1800 students from Dubbo and surrounding communities.

33% of students identify as having an Aboriginal background and approximately 8% of enrolments require English and additional language or dialect (EAL/D) support. The support unit has nine classes including one ED class, one IM class, one IO/IS class, three IO/AU classes, and three MC classes. Students placed in the support unit are offered a wide range of Life Skills courses, with some students also studying Life Skills in mainstream Stage 6 classes. The school has strong partnerships with community agencies and a post-school transition program and has recently appointed Deputy Principal Inclusion and Support. 

Regular consultation with the DCSC Parents & Citizens Association and Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) continues to underpin DCSC operations and development which is aligned to the needs and interests of students. 

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Demonstrated capacity to work as a dynamic member of the school executive team in the implementation of shared visions and the school's strategic directions
  2. Approved and/or demostrated experience in leading teaching and learning for students including, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health, and behavioural needs
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality individual learning and behaviour support plans and differentiated curriculum to facilitate improved student learning outcomes.
  4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and effectively communicate with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies in continuing to build a culture of inclusivity.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to successfully embed Aboriginal perspectives that engage and increase all students’ knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal peoples’ contributions to a variety of subjects through cultural practices. 
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
