Position Information 

Wiley Park Girls High School is a comprehensive girl’s high school in South Western Sydney with a total enrolment of 540 students. It has a proud history of supporting a diverse student population that caters for the needs of girls. The school promotes High Potential and Gifted Education and is committed to wellbeing and curriculum opportunities for all students including from a language background other than English,and refugee students (97%) of all enrolments. The school also has a Support Unit for students with a mild and moderate intellectual disability and autism, and works in partnership with our local community employing four Community Liaison Officers from Arabic and South Pacific Islander community groups.

The school's aim is to transform teaching and learning through innovative curriculum development and professional learning for teachers in the delivery of reading and comprehension strategies, numeracy across the curriculum and the use of technology to enhance student learning. This is well supported through the Compressed Curriculum Model, where three courses are completed in the first year of study and a further three courses are completed in the following year with a diverse range of co - curricular programs for student engagement and wellbeing.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
 
Demonstrated capacity to lead the wellbeing team and work collaboratively with the wellbeing and learning support teams to ensure every student is known valued and cared for.

Comprehensive data skills to identify and analyse patterns of student wellbeing challenges and use this knowledge to lead high impact, whole school responses and support.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for developing links with external agencies, parents and the school community to support the wellbeing needs of girls from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and to lead initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and nurture positive and productive relationships across the school.

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
