Job overview

Starting salary dependent on experience

Due to the retirement of our Head Teacher the Governors are seeking to appoint a Head Teacher with:-

  • An outstanding track record of raising standards and levels of attainment.
  • A proven record of being an inspirational leader who can shape and deliver the school's strategy.
  • The passion to overcome the everyday issues that can be barriers to progress.
  • A robust and resilient approach to meeting the challenges of a changing educational landscape and the increasingly complex needs of pupils.

Hunters Hill provides residential and day placements for 125 children aged 11-16. A successful special school, Hunters Hill offers a caring and supportive working environment involving a multi-disciplinary professional team. The residential Care Team play an integral role in ensuring the 24 hour curriculum and our residential provision was rated as “Good” under the new Ofsted Framework.

Our children have SEMH (social, emotional and mental health difficulties) and many also have Autistic Spectrum Condition both of which underpin a variety of behaviours which have the potential to impede their learning and progress. The school provides an approach which is structured, calm and sympathetic to individuals who are insecure, lacking in confidence, and have experienced failure in mainstream schools, often from an early age.

Set in a magnificent rural area of over 70 acres of fields and woodland, this setting is ideal for young people whose needs are best met by a healthy environment with high quality nurturing and levels of support. The imaginative and recently extended curriculum forms part of the school's strategy to improve levels of self-esteem, social skills and confidence and the school offers residential accommodation, currently taken up by approximately half of its students.

What Hunters Hill can offer you:

  • A rich and diverse environment with a superb range of facilities and potential for further development.
  • A school that promotes a positive ethos that fully embraces diversity and difference, valuing the individual.
  • A school where students display positive attitudes, are happy and feel respected by staff and one another.
  • The opportunity to lead and work with dedicated, enthusiastic and talented staff.
  • The opportunity to work with Senior Leaders and Governors who are sharply focused and fully understand the needs of the school and students.
  • A school with a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes.
  • The provision of high quality training and innovative for staff development.
  • The opportunity to build on the success of the school, to improve and grow its capacity and achievement.
  • Existing strong links with local schools.
