Headteacher

Full time

Leadership Scale L29-L35a

Actual Salary £88,170 to £101,126

Permanent

From September 2023

Longhill High School is a good, truly comprehensive secondary school, built on quality relationships.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate our current Headteacher on her career progression and promotion. For the right person, this opens an opportunity to take over the headship and build upon the school's upward trajectory.

Your background will have hard-earned experience from your time working as a Deputy Head or a Head in a diverse school. This matters to us. Longhill High School is a local authority maintained school with an above average SEN and disadvantaged cohort. It's also an average-sized school, with approximately 900 pupils.

When you step inside the school you'll feel the strong foundation ready for you to build on.

That foundation is built on relationships. You'll inherit supportive, open, trusting and collaborative relationships with the staff, students, governors, community, local authority, and the other secondary schools in Brighton & Hove.

Developing these relationships will be fundamental to furthering the momentum the team has created.

Yet Longhill High School’s journey is not complete. Are you the leader to accept the challenges that it will bring?

You will need to bring to bear your proven skills in improving results and progress for the students. You'll need drive and resilience to develop the teaching and learning, the development of staff, and the management of finances.

And that is also your opportunity.

Determination and aspiration are key characteristics of the school.

Do you have the skills and resilience to enrol the stakeholders into your vision? Do you have the energy to deliver results?

If so, you'll discover a school where you can thrive and create a positive change.

You'll have colleagues and local heads keen to support you and see you succeed. Most of all, you'll have an unrivalled opportunity to write the school's future.

We'd encourage you to visit the school, see our beautiful setting between the sea and rolling hills, and experience our culture. Use your network to discover the journey the school has been on. Ask the stakeholders the questions you want to ask. It's important to us that you join the school ready to lead from the front.

Closing date for applications: Midday on Monday 30th January 2023.

Shortlisted will take place in the week commencing 6th February 2023.

Interviews to take place Tuesday 21st and 22nd February 2023.

Please read through the job pack for further information about this vacancy.
