Purpose of the role

Cathedral Schools Trust is seeking to appoint a Headteacher for Victoria Park Primary School, ideally from September 2018, and no later than January 2019.  The headteacher will work closely with the Executive Principal, Head of Primary Phase and other head teachers within the Trust to provide outstanding provision for children and families.

Victoria Park is a vibrant and very successful school, serving a diverse community in south Bristol. The school is well poised to make further improvements through a well established culture of distributed leadership and the support of the Cathedral Schools Trust.  Victoria Park is at the heart of its local community and prides itself on providing an experiential curriculum, outstanding pastoral support and a strong foundation in the key skills.  The school has received a number of accolades in recent years.  This year it featured in the Sunday Times Top 500 Schools List and for the second year running was named  in the top 5 schools in Bristol and the surrounding area in the Real Schools Guide.

Cathedral Schools Trust is currently made up of one secondary school and three primary schools: Bristol Cathedral Choir School, Ofsted Outstanding in 2016; Headley Park Primary School, Ofsted Outstanding in 2013; Victoria Park Primary School,  Ofsted Good in 2013 and Cathedral Primary School, Ofsted Good in 2015 - all are well established, oversubscribed and successful schools. In September 2016 we received approval to open a new Secondary School in north Bristol - CST Trinity Academy - whose first cohort of students will start in September 2019. In addition we expect a number of other primary schools to join us by Autumn 2018. The trust has an affiliated Teaching School Alliance providing support for primary and secondary schools across the region, offering CPD opportunities for staff. There are also opportunities for staff to become accredited SLE’s, LLE’s and NLE’s.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking headteacher to lead the school.  The successful candidate should be strategic, creative and approachable.  They must be willing to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust whilst having a clear vision to move the school forward.

If you can demonstrate that you possess the necessary experience, knowledge and qualifications and aspire to our values and vision then we would like to hear from you.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check upon appointment.
