Job overview

Headteacher
Group 5 school L18 (£62,426) to L31 £84,976 with the potential to change to a Group 6 (L21 to L35)
To start September 2020

Following the appointment of our current headteacher to a new post after 15 years of excellent leadership, we are seeking an inspirational and dedicated Headteacher to take Granta School into the next stage of its development.
Granta first opened in September 2006 and caters for special needs pupils aged 3 to 19 years old. All our pupils have Education and Health Care plans (EHCP’s). We are a Local Authority School and not part of an Academy Trust. The majority of our pupils come from Cambridgeshire but others travel in from Suffolk and Essex.

We currently have 142 pupils on roll and nearly 100 members of staff. We enjoy excellent facilities including a purpose built hydrotherapy pool, two light rooms, a gym, three outside learning areas, several specialist teaching rooms including a science lab,  food technology and design technology rooms.
There is an exciting new development to create a separate 6th form provision close to the main site under the central direction of Granta which could see student numbers rise by around 20. A plan for this provision is currently being developed which will provide our school and the new headteacher with a whole new set of challenges and opportunities.

We were last inspected by Ofsted in April 2017 and maintained a ‘Good’ rating.

We are located in the village of Linton, eight miles south east of Cambridge and share our site with Linton Village College. The proposed new 6th Form site is about 2 miles away from the school.

At Granta we work with a wide range of pupil needs from those who have Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), who can study a subject based curriculum, to those who have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and need a highly differentiated curriculum and communication system. Most of our students have severe learning difficulties and approximately half also have autism.

Granta is a vibrant school and a uniquely rewarding place to work. For further details about the school please visit our website: http://www.granta.cambs.sch.uk/website
