Job overview

Build God’s family of loving and learning

We are a vibrant and diverse 1.5 form entry primary school in Camden, serving the parishes of St Dominic’s, Southampton Road, St Mary’s, Holly Place, St Thomas More, Swiss Cottage and other churches within the Camden Deanery and the wider Catholic Community.

Our current Headteacher retires in August 2018. Governors now seek a highly motivated practising Catholic with relevant experience to further develop this fantastic school.

Our school is a happy, forward-looking school with a strong history of success. We strive to create an environment where each child is nurtured and cherished for what they are and challenged to be the best that they can be. We have enthusiastic children and committed staff, ambitious governors and supportive parents. We are looking for someone to share our vision in continuing to build upon the achievements of this happy and successful Catholic school.

We are looking for a candidate who can build on our solid foundations and lead the school through all the challenges ahead.

We welcome applications from experienced Headteachers as well as deputies who will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership, management and communication skills, and also possess:

  • A passion and enthusiasm for each individual child’s learning and determination to see that each child maximises their full potential.

  • A clear, consistent focus on Teaching and Learning

  • A continuous drive to further raise standards

  • A track record of supporting and developing outstanding teaching

  • A vision for leading our school to outstanding performance in all aspects of the Catholic life of the school

As a confident, innovative and inspirational leader, the successful applicant will show that they are able to maintain good relationships throughout the school community and participate fully in the life of the school.

Visits to the school for prospective candidates are both recommended and warmly welcomed. Even if you have not been considering a move why not come, visit us, and find out about this great opportunity to enjoy leading our community?

About Rosary Catholic Primary School

Rosary Catholic Primary School is a voluntary-aided state primary in Hampstead, north-west London, for children aged 3-11.

Headteacher

Values and vision

Rosary Catholic Primary School believes teachers need strong subject knowledge and, like pupils, need to be keen to learn new things. It believes good teaching and learning will only take place in a classroom where a culture of error has been created: an environment in which mistakes are celebrated and acknowledged as the way pupils learn. Teachers at Rosary Catholic Primary School therefore consider the most powerful weapon in their teaching armoury to be the phrase "good mistake". They plan for good mistakes and seize upon the teachable moments that arise from them.

Ofsted report

“Teachers inspire and motivate pupils to do their best and they ensure that the differing needs are met well in most lessons. Disabled pupils and those with special educational needs are given good support both in and out of lessons and newly arrived pupils who speak languages other than English are very well catered for. Pupils’ positive attitudes and good behaviour contribute greatly to their good learning in lessons. They work hard, are polite and courteous, and thoroughly enjoy school.”
