The successful candidate will:
- provide strategic and visionary leadership to ensure that the school builds on its current strengths and successes
- be creative, enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and learning
- be a strong, visible leader of its high calibre staff and students
They will have significant experience at senior leadership level in secondary education in a large, high-performing selective, non-selective or independent school and will continue to promote the school’s ethos of intellectual challenge and rigour, whilst nurturing a philosophy of individuality and inclusiveness.

King Edward VI Grammar School, Chelmsford (known as KEGS locally) is a Leading Edge School, constantly testing and adapting professional practice to raise standards of teaching and learning. It is consistently one of the top ten grammar schools in the country and lends itself to being a natural leader with an international reputation as a centre of learning. The School is regularly in the top five in A Level league tables, and the top ten at GCSE.
