The Governors of Upton-by-Chester High School are seeking to appoint an exceptional leader, with the energy, ability and vision to build on a successful legacy, enabling all students to attain the highest levels of academic and personal achievement.

We are the largest school in Chester with 1600 students (and rising), including 250 in our sixth form.  Our most recent Ofsted short inspection in May 2019 was highly successful, endorsing our previous judgement, ‘This is a good school with an outstanding sixth form’ (May 2015).

At Upton we strive to provide an outstanding educational experience for all of our students - whatever their previous attainment - within an inclusive, vibrant, student-centred learning environment. Being a true comprehensive, our students hail from a wide range of backgrounds and represent all abilities, bringing challenges, but also myriad rewards. The successful candidate will benefit from working in a welcoming, caring school which exudes positivity, leading a team of committed, supportive and dedicated staff and governors who are proud to be part of Upton High.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Headteachers with a proven track record to further develop their career and make their mark, and from Deputy Headteachers who can demonstrate they are ready and able to take on the responsibilities and demands of Headship successfully.
