Believe, Belong, Achieve!

Co-op Academy Portland is on the rise. It joined the Co-op Academies Trust in October 2018 and is wholeheartedly committed to co-operative values, Co-op 'Ways of Being' and the Trust’s strategic plan. Its predecessor school was judged as requiring ‘special measures’ but with the support of the Trust and a focused governing body, ‘measures’ have now been put in place and the academy is reaping dividends.

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and engaging individual with a strong record in school improvement and a clear strategic vision who can help shape and deliver a shared vision for the future. The recent improvements have strengthened our belief that co-operative values and Co-op 'Ways of Being' are crucial so it is important that applicants are willing to fully embrace these. We know we must bring these and more into the learning experiences for the pupils and use them to drive up academic standards further. We have started this well, have momentum and now need to embed the improvements across the school more securely so that all children consistently make at least good progress during their time at the academy.

The academy has many strengths including engaging and enthusiastic pupils, a staff wanting to make a positive difference, the governing body and the support of the Co-op Academies Trust.

We welcome interest from candidates with a strong record of sustainably improving outcomes for pupils both academically and in terms of their personal development. If the successful candidate is relocating, some covering of costs is available. The successful candidate will receive full support and guidance to become established in the new role.

So if you’re looking for a challenge and are a committed educationalist, steeped in the skills and knowledge of school improvement, with a belief in the power of co-operation to achieve great things – please get in touch with us.

You can read more about the Co-op Academies Trust at https://www.coopacademies.co.uk and at https://www.coopacademies.co.uk/about-us/ouracademies/co-op-academy-portland/ to find out more about the academy.

Closing date: Thursday 23 January 2020

Shortlisting: Monday 27 January 2020

Interview date/s: 3 and 4 February 2020 at the academy

Our Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS.
