Job overview

Cobham Hall is looking to recruit a headteacher to start in September 2018.

Cobham Hall is a small independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18, set in 150 acres of tranquil landscape grounds in Cobham, Kent. The school is a member of the Round Square network of schools.

The last few years have seen a steady growth in the size of the school but there remains an opportunity for further significant development. Boarders currently account for about 30% of the total numbers of girls but there is scope and a desire to increase this proportion. Already, though, there is a tremendous sense of internationalism about the school with well over 20 countries from around the world represented amongst the Cobham Hall family of students at any one time.

The school is very well located, with high speed train links to the centre of London within half an hour. The school is within a few miles of a new garden city development which is in its early stages and will benefit from further major infrastructure development planned in the local area.

Further details of this exciting opportunity are set out in the accompanying papers available on this website

The post of headteacher comes with an attractive remuneration and benefits package which in aggregate is valued at £90,000 to £102,000 per annum, subject to experience, and with the possibility of increases linked to the growth of the school going forward.

Applications are invited by 4pm on 29 September 2017.

The school is an equal opportunities employer. It is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants are subject to a DBS check.

COBHAM HALL – The Perfect Surroundings for Growing and Learning

At Cobham Hall, we provide a secure but challenging environment which stimulates confident thinking and a strong sense of enquiry. Small classes ensure that every student is supported according to her needs, and high standards of teaching and learning ensure consistently good results in public examinations.

We believe that young people should be prepared for real life by offering them challenges, adventure and opportunities for leadership and initiative. Freedom of thought and speech is encouraged, and students are taught to appreciate the importance of self-discipline, and to value the history and culture of others. They learn that democracy means being responsible for others as well as oneself, and girls in all year groups take an active part in the management of the school.

The size of our school means that staff and students get to know each other well, and have time to talk and listen to one another.
