After a long and successful career at Bishop Ullathorne, our Headteacher is retiring. The governing body is seeking to appoint a practising Catholic with a strong personal faith with the vision, leadership and energy to build and develop our strength as a high performing Catholic school. We are looking for a leader who will inspire students, staff, parents and governors and motivate the whole community to achieve outstanding status and ensure the best possible outcomes for each individual student.
The successful candidate will have:
· a strong commitment to the intrinsic value of Catholic education
· a proven track record of success for school leadership at Deputy Head/ Headteacher level
· the capacity to seek further improvement and sustain high standards
· knowledge and understanding of the current educational climate and strong financial acumen.
· excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Values and vision
The ethos of Bishop Ullathorne Catholic School is strongly influenced by faith, which is demonstrated in the motto “Soli Deo”, or “For God only”. Teachers recognise the uniqueness of every child, allowing them to develop spiritually, morally, socially and physically as well as academically.
The traditional values of the secondary school include everything from achieving through endeavour and placing an importance on hard work, to working in partnership with parents and the local community and wearing the Bishop Ullathorne school uniform with pride. “[The headteacher] and other leaders make frequent checks on the performance of pupils and teachers. The information from the checks enables you to pinpoint effective practice and where further improvements are needed. There is a well-thought-out programme of training and support for teachers that focuses on individual and whole-school priorities. The majority of subject leaders know their departments well and lead improvements effectively.”
