Job overview

St Michael’s is an oversubscribed 11-18 non-selective Church of England voluntary academy (NOR 687 including 90 in Sixth Form) located in Crosby, serving the local and neighbouring communities and only a short distance from Liverpool city centre.

St Michael’s is part of Liverpool Diocesan Schools Trust (LDST), comprising 17 schools and growing. LDST schools are recognised for their strong Christian commitment towards each other to ensure mutual growth and improvement within a strong school to school network.

St Michael’s was judged good in its most recent Ofsted inspection (Nov 2017). There is much to celebrate at St Michael’s, and both Governors and the Trust are keen to move forward to realise the school’s full potential and become the pre-eminent school of choice within the community.

Governors are looking for:

• a Head whose motivations at heart are derived from helping all students and staff achieve their full potential

• an educationalist who knows what an excellent quality of education looks like and ensures that all learners, regardless of ability, have access to this

• a Leader with a strong Christian faith who will uphold and sustain the spiritual and caring ethos of our school

• an ambitious Leader who has the vision, drive and commitment to take our good school forward to outstanding

• a leader who embraces their pivotal role within the St Michael’s community and is astutely attuned to the needs, views and thoughts of all within it

For an existing Headteacher this could be the next big challenge you seek …or equally the role may appeal to an experienced Deputy Head and still yet untapped potential. Either way, you will be ably supported by a capable SLT and MAT team.

A requirement of the post is that applicants must be practising Christians.

We want you to be sure that this would be the right thing for you as well as us. You are therefore welcome to talk informally with us and to visit the school. Liam Dowds at Emmaus Leadership can discreetly and confidentially make arrangements and also tell you more about us.
