The governing body of Ysgol Tir Morfa is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Headteacher. Based in the town of Rhyl, Ysgol Tir Morfa is a co-located county wide multi-disciplinary special school, split over two sites, that caters for pupils with a moderate to complex additional learning needs from the ages of 3 to 19 years.

The successful candidate will lead a large, well-established Senior Leadership Team and will work in partnership with governors, staff, pupils and their parents/ careers as well as partner agencies. The school was judged to be good by Estyn in the last inspection (2011).

We are seeking a Headteacher who can show experience and evidence of success in the following areas:

  • Leading and developing a centre of excellence in the teaching of children and young people with moderate to complex additional learning needs from the ages of 3 to 19 years.
  • A depth and breadth of experience relating to children and young people with sometimes profound and multiple learning difficulties and associated health problems.
  • Exceptional Leadership and Management skills, including excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leading a large team of teaching and non teaching staff.
  • Commissioning and resourcing a wide range of services.

About Ysgol Tir Morfa School

Ysgol Tir Morfa is a Community Special School situated in Rhyl. The school caters for pupils aged between 3 and 19 years. The majority of pupils live in North and mid Denbighshire. All pupils display learning difficulties and are subject to a statement of special educational need (SEN). Nursery and reception age children may be admitted for a period of assessment. Admission to the school is via the LEA and parents are encouraged to visit the school.

Pupils attending the school display a range of needs which include, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Sensory Deficits, Communication Difficulties and Emotional Difficulties.
