Marland is a successful all age (KS1-4) special school for students with Social, Emotional and/or Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It is currently located across three sites: Peters Marland, Barnstaple and Bideford. This post is based at our Yr4-Yr11 residential school in Peters Marland (6 miles from Torrington), currently graded as 'Good' by Ofsted Education and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted Social Care. Each school has its own Headteacher and leadership team, all reporting directly to the Executive Principal (EP). Each Headteacher also shares Deputy Principal responsibility for the whole school (all sites). This senior vacancy has arisen due to the expansion from 3 to 4 school sites, with the current incumbent moving to set up and lead our latest new school in Bideford in 2023.

Marland has a successful Ofsted track record. It works closely with its SENtient Trust partner special schools and with Devon LA. Our overarching ethos is based around personalisation and meeting the needs of each individual child. We also utilise 'THRIVE' based social and emotional development at the core of everything we do.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced school leader / manager to join our supportive, professional, forward thinking and friendly staff team commencing 3 January 2023.

Further information is available on www.marland-school.co.uk.

Visits to the school / discussions with our Executive Principal are strongly encouraged and welcomed. Please contact Keith Bennett, Executive Principal, or Andrea Dart, HR Officer, at the Residential School site on 01805 601324 to arrange.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This role requires a DBS disclosure.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
