The Governors of Langtree Community School are seeking to recruit an experienced school leader to take on the headship of Langtree Community School from 1 September 2019.

Langtree School is a successful, warm and lively village school set in a rural farming community in North Devon. We can offer a supportive, experienced team of staff and governors, and enthusiastic children across a range of abilities, all within a very friendly and welcoming school and local community.

Our last OfSTED Inspection, which judged the school to be ‘Good’, took place in July 2017 with the Lead Inspector, Susan Costello, commenting: ‘Langtree is a very welcoming school. Pupils behave well and greatly enjoy school. They are polite and courteous around the school and say they feel safe. Pupils flourish socially because they have excellent relationships with staff. Pupils are well prepared for the next stage in their education because of the nurture and care provided for them. Parents are rightfully proud of their school. One parent emphasised this by saying, “Langtree is an amazing school that makes everyone feel welcome. My child has thrived since being there”.’

Applicants for this important role need to be skilled in inspirational leadership, to continue to build on the school’s successes to move the school to ‘Outstanding’, whilst maintaining a commitment to the school’s ethos and values. An ability to communicate and build relationships effectively across the school community, including staff, children, parents and partner schools, is essential.

This post requires a teaching commitment (currently 0.6 FTE), so high quality teaching and learning and raising pupil achievement is important, as is the ability to influence, inspire, motivate and nurture our children.

Visits to come and meet us ahead of application submission are warmly welcomed and encouraged. We are able to offer visits on 4 or 5 February 2019. Please contact the school directly to arrange.

An application form can be requested by contacting Jennifer Cartledge at Babcock LDP on 01392 287221 or LDP-AdminHeadships@babcockinternational.com.

Your completed application form should be submitted to the above email address, accompanied by a letter of support not exceeding 1,000 words, to be included for shortlisting consideration.

Closing date: noon on 14 February 2019
Interview date: 14 and 15 March 2019

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role requires a DBS disclosure. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
