Required for Summer term 2022. The Governors seek to appoint a committed, experienced and proven leader who will take the school on to the next stage of its journey.

Wellfield is a consistently good school and has had two consecutive “good” judgements from Ofsted. Using validated data, GCSE examinations results are above the national average and overall progress is above average.

Applicants will need to provide leadership of a high quality in the academic, pastoral and management fields and be able to show evidence of the successful implementation of change.

Wellfield School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Wingate, County Durham. It is a community state school that provides 1,200 places for students between the ages of 11 and 16 when fully subscribed.  Wellfield School is part of New College Durham Academies Trust.

Wellfield School holds mathematics and computing specialist status. A recent £8.5m investment led to a rebuild of school premises.
