Job overview

“Roots to Grow and Wings to Fly”

Cherry Burton Primary School is a “Good” School and we are looking for a new Headteacher. You will be an exceptional leader who has the vision, energy and presence to lead from the front, with the drive and determination to move our school forward.

Cherry Burton Primary offers

A school in which the children have a desire to learn and do so within a happy and nurturing environment. Our teaching and support staff are enthusiastic, creative and dedicated to the success of our school. Every member of our school is important and this is recognised in our safeguarding policies and the commitment of our Governing body to support, encourage and challenge for the welfare of all and to the benefit of whole school development. We serve our community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. Our school encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience we offer to all our pupils. We offer all this within a beautiful village context which has a strong and supportive sense of community.

Our new Headteacher will…

Be a person of vision and presence who can lead from the front by being a visible leader for our pupils, parents and staff. With proven leadership and management skills, build on good practice and inspire the school to continue to raise standards and pupil progress for all. Be approachable and willing to share and delegate; to listen and learn; to keep up-to-date, to effectively assess and confidently implement educational and curriculum developments and initiatives. Being a village school means that we need you to be confident in securing strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents and families and governors; to build productive partnerships with other schools and educationalists. Bringing new ideas that will build on our successes and lead us to be a truly outstanding school. Our hardworking staff need their leadership to have high expectations of them and to be inspired and motivated to meet those expectations. Our strong community means you will benefit from the active relationships with your local Church and Rector as well as other community partners, by demonstrating the Christian ethos of our school in all you do.

Our children have asked for a new Headteacher who…

  • wants to be around them, proud of them and their work and praises them.
  • is a great listener, approachable, encouraging and patient, trustworthy and optimistic.
  • looks after their teachers, is an excellent role model, strict when needed and always considers everyones views before making decisions.
  • has a great sense of humour, is fun, energetic and sporty, creative, smart, happy and smiley.
  • has exciting new ideas for our school and keeps our traditions.
  • is calm, respectful of everyone, polite and honest, fair and forgiving and has good Christian thoughts .

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to take over a well-established and thriving school, where you can really make a difference to the future of the school and the lives of our children. If you believe you have the relevant skills and experience to be considered for this position, we would welcome hearing from you.

For further information and to arrange a visit to our wonderful school please contact Mrs Bev Rowley, tel (01964) 550445. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to visit the school prior to the selection process.

You will be offered a comprehensive three year induction package.
