Following the retirement of the current Headteacher. the Governors are seeking to appoint a practising and committed Catholic to the post.

St Mark’s is a popular, high-achieving, successful, calm and happy school, where our distinct Catholic ethos, high standards of behaviour and commitment to every member of our school community makes this a very special place to learn and work. As a school we take very seriously our responsibility for the spiritual, moral and character formation of the young people in our care, supporting them to become well-rounded citizens who are ready for the wider, 21st century world.

About St Mark's West Essex Catholic School

St Mark’s is a successful, well-ordered and caring Catholic school for approximately 1000 boys and girls aged from eleven to eighteen, situated in the heart of Harlow, Essex.

Values and Vision

We are committed to the highest level of achievement for pupils of all abilities and we recognise that there are no limits to a child’s potential.  We aim to inspire all our pupils to achieve their best through "belonging, engaging and succeeding together". We believe in treating each pupil as an individual and valuing each person’s unique talents. Our curriculum has been designed to offer choice and to nurture all talents and abilities.

Our school was rated “good with outstanding features” by Ofsted at our last inspection (July 2013), after converting to academy status in 2011.

St Mark’s prides itself on its exam results at both GCSE and A level, as well as, the number of awards, achievements and accomplishments of our pupils in so many different aspects of their learning.

Harlow is a new town situated in the beautiful county of Essex. Harlow offers everything from arts, culture and theatre to sport, parks and nature reserves. The school is close to the M11 with quick links to the M25 and only 15 miles from Central London. A 20 minute drive will get you to Stansted Airport. Harlow is served by two mainline railway Stations, Harlow Town and Harlow Mill from where there are trains to and from London Liverpool Street, Stansted Airport and Cambridge. There is also a bus service to Epping Tube Station on the Central Line for London Underground.
