Job overview

Parallel Learning Trust is a Special and Alternative Provision Multi-Academy Trust.

The Trust is committed to transforming lives for all pupils. Currently we have seven academies that offer alternative or special provision for those children with social, emotional or mental health needs.

We welcome applications from exceptional leaders who are passionate about young people, staff and the wider community alike. Ramsden Hall is a truly special educational setting which genuinely strives to support all pupils with their specific needs and barriers to learning to enable them to reach their full potential both academically and in terms of managing their behaviour. This is achieved by providing high quality teaching and learning and by using assessment, engagement and developing educational programmes that focus on individual needs through an integrated therapeutic approach to the curriculum.

Parallel Learning Trust (PLT) is searching for an inspirational leader with innovative ideas and a positive approach to overcoming the many challenges that we face in the education system today and continue to work towards becoming an Outstanding provision. The Education aspect of the provision is currently graded as Good in all areas after a recent Ofsted Inspection in October 2022. The Residential aspect of the provision is also graded as good after an Ofsted Inspection in June 2022.

Ramsden Hall Academy provides education to pupils whose primary additional need is SEMH with current PAN of 100 boys from year 6-11, approximately a third of whom are residential. The academy is located on a 14 acre site, has fantastic external space, an outdoor swimming pool and benefits from a recent £12 million new build residential block and education block which opened in the summer of 2021.

Would you like to work in a Trust which is highly regarded by the Regional Directorate and the DfE, where we epitomise the effectiveness of a medium sized Trust with a strong central services set up that includes staff that lead on Teaching & Learning, Inclusion, SEN, Facilities & Compliance, IT and Governance enabling the Headteachers to focus on making the academies within the Trust as great as they can be. The academies benefit from working within a framework of Trust wide systems and processes enabling leaders to compare and contrast areas of strength and supportively challenge areas for further development. This is underpinned by a strong Trust wide CPD offer and the Trust also benefits from close collaborations with other specialist MAT’s across the country and is part of the AP/SEND national CEO Network.

We embrace our moral imperative to educate and develop young minds in preparation for their futures in the world of work with the aim of ensuring that all pupils that attend our provisions can enjoy and achieve their true potential, irrespective of their starting point thus enabling them to make a positive contribution to their community. We are a truly collaborative organisation and the culture that we promote is one that is driven by our core values. These values have been carefully developed and apply across all of our academies. Most importantly, our approach is driven by passion, commitment and a genuine desire to create and nurture long term relationships that have sustainable outcomes that enable independence.

It is crucial that we get the right person for this key position and very strong interpersonal skills are essential as the successful candidate will be interacting with a range of stakeholders. It is advantageous but not essential for candidates have experience of residential education and to understand the complexities of working as a Headteacher but also as part of a MAT.

If you would like further information about this post or would like to have an informal conversation about the role please contact Lizzie Kennedy my PA please contact on lkennedy@plt.org.uk or 07824357321. I would be grateful if you do not contact the academy directly for any matters, please.

Please note: All applications received will be reviewed and contacted once the deadline date has passed.
