Job overview
Hopewell School is an independent special school for pupils with complex learning needs and challenging behaviour. The school serves the county of Essex. We use small class groups with skilled staff to meet the needs of our pupils and ensure they make exceptional progress emotionally, socially and academically. We offer an extended curriculum that encompasses a therapeutic approach and individualised learning.
We are looking for an outstanding Headteacher with both the experience and skills to understand the complex needs of our children and who can work alongside and lead an exceptionally dedicated, hard working team.
The school underwent an Ofsted inspection in November 2014 however failed to meet the Independent School Standards (ISS). Since that time the Interim Head, staff and Governors have worked tirelessly to improve the school in all the main areas including teaching and learning, safeguarding and leadership & management. The school was recently inspected (September 2015) and the outcome was very positive. The inspection commented on the progress the school had made and confirmed we were meeting all the Independent school Standards.
The time has now come for the Interim Head to move on and make way for the new substantive Headteacher. The successful candidate will lead Hopewell School on the next stage of its journey.
