Could you motivate and inspire our dedicated, enthusiastic & experienced staff team, to deliver an innovative curriculum that enables all our children to reach their full potential in our inclusive school?

Swan Lane First School is a large two-form entry school based in a modern well-maintained building. The School is set in attractive award-winning grounds which include hard surface playgrounds, a sports field, exciting outdoor area and a forest school section. We have excellent ICT provision in all classrooms and are committed to providing a creative, stimulating and inclusive environment. We are a caring, warm and friendly school, where we put children at the heart of everything we do.

We pride ourselves on having excellent links with the local community and welcome students from local high schools, colleges and Worcester University to work with our pupils. We are very keen to foster and develop these links. Our Ofsted reports have been consistently good, often with outstanding notable features, the most recent inspection being in March 2016.

The Governors at Swan Lane First School require a dedicated, self-motivated, inspirational and talented Headteacher, who will value and build on the hard work already undertaken. We are looking to appoint a leader with a clear strategic vision to develop further a successful curriculum which delivers positive outcomes for the children.

The School’s website contains a wealth of information about the School and interested candidates are invited to view it www.swanlanefirstschool.worcs.sch.uk

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the School by appointment and should contact the Headteacher’s PA, Mrs Claire Wharrad, at pa@swanlanefirstschool.worcs.sch.uk

Swan Lane First School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. The successful candidate will be required to undertake DBS checks and any relevant current employment checks. Please visit the School’s website to view our safeguarding policy.

Swan Lane First School is a popular school with most of the children living within the catchment area or the town of Evesham although some travel to school from outlying villages. There are currently 336 children on role and over a third of the children have English as an additional language.

There are 12 classes, 2 in each year group and the majority of the children at Swan Lane will go on to St Egwins Middle School.

The school’s grounds are beautiful and well maintained by our Site Manager and the children in Gardening Club. There is a Forest School Area that is used throughout the school, an area for reflection and an outside classroom. The school enters the Evesham in Bloom competition in which we have won a gold award for the last few years.

The school’s learning environment is bright and vibrant. There is evidence of high-quality displays that showcase and celebrate pupils’ work and also displays with helpful prompts to aid learning.

As well as many sporting clubs, we are able to offer many other extra curriculum activities such as Science Club, Choir, Gardening Club, Nature Club, Cygnet News, Chess Club and Polish Club. Some of the clubs are organised and run by the children.

Our School Council, Eco Warriors and Healthy Living Group work hard to raise awareness of many different issues and to represent the pupil voice in school. Our Enterprise shop runs at the end of each half term.

Theme days and weeks are regular features of the curriculum, providing enrichment across the whole school. There are events such as Healthy Living and Mindfulness, Year 2 Wedding, Maths Days, Science Days, Eco Week, and World Book Day.
