The Forest High School is looking for a Headteacher with secondary school experience to be based in Cinderford which is a proud former mining town in a stunningly beautiful district of Gloucestershire.

The Headteacher for this school will have the flair to develop the school’s values and achieve their vision, be committed to the highest achievement for all and be a creative and enthusiastic educationalist and a fantastic communicator for all stakeholders. This post will lead through a management structure which will enable staff to develop to the best of their potential.

The Forest High School has a vision to aim to inspire students to become confident, ethical and compelling individuals with the aspiration and qualities to shape a better future for all.

The Trust are looking for someone who can demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of social mobility and who can build strong, effective partnerships with the community. Someone who can provide outstanding leadership and direction and has the proven ability of raising standards for all students and ensure the highest expectations and standards. The Headteacher will ensure standards in teaching and learning, relationships and engagement, ensuring that both the curriculum and enrichment opportunities offered to students meet their needs and aspirations, as well as those of the community.

The Forest High School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Cinderford, Gloucestershire. The school has approximately 333 students at the school between the ages of 11-16.   

The Forest High School was established in the 1970s, originally named Double View. The secondary school converted to academy status in 2012 under the name Forest E-ACT Academy, but changed name to The Forest High School in 2015 when it changed sponsorship. It is now sponsored by the SGS Schools Trust.

The Forest School want all pupils to excel and it strives to be a ‘vibrant, successful and responsive secondary school in the heart of any community’. The school is committed to installing high standards of behavior and wants students to be respectful and considerate towards all members of the community. The school values its partnership with parents and has an active meeting group for parents and staff to come together and work towards raising funds for the community. The Forest School wants pupils of all academic abilities to thrive and offers vocational learning for Year 10 pupils, enabling them to attend college once a week in addition to the core curriculum subjects taught at the school.

“Students value the information about safety that they receive in lessons and on special days devoted to personal and social development. They enjoy the opportunities to listen to guest speakers and take part in activities that raise their awareness of staying healthy. They are clear about how to stay safe on the internet and when using social media. They talked sensibly to inspectors about the dangers of smoking, alcohol and substance abuse”.
