The Governors wish to appoint an outstanding, charismatic educationalist to lead this successful, friendly, selective girls’ school, building upon the significant achievements of the Headteacher, Mrs Amanda Chong, who is retiring after twenty years distinguished service as Headteacher. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader who will inspire students and staff to achieve beyond their expectations; one who will nurture all that is special at Ribston Hall High School; one who believes that it is the role of a great school to do all in its power to develop both the academic life and character of its students. The Governors welcome applications from professionals from selective and non selective state maintained schools and from the independent sector.  

Ribston Hall High School is a popular girls’ selective school set in the heart of the city of Gloucester. It was founded in 1921 and converted to Academy status in 2011. The current roll is 866 which includes 255 students in its highly successful co-educational Sixth Form. 

The new Headteacher of Ribston Hall High School will benefit from working with a committed and ambitious staff and Governing Body who are eager to continuously improve the school thereby providing the very best selective education for girls. Ribston Hall High School ascribes great importance to excellence and enjoyment in its extensive co-curricular programme which includes a wide range of opportunities in Sport, the Arts and foreign visits. Most significantly, the spirit of the school is embodied in its students described by Ofsted inspectors as  ‘confident, articulate young women with a keen sense of social responsibility’.  

Ribston Hall High School is situated in the beautiful cathedral city of Gloucester and is close to glorious countryside.

Ribston Hall High School is a selective, grammar school for girls aged 11-16. It also has a co-educational Sixth Form. Ribston Hall converted to academy status in 2011 and has approximately 871 students on roll.
