Job overview

Headteacher – Hensingham Primary School

Salary: L8 – L14

Required: April, 2023

Are you driven by providing the best possible teaching and learning opportunities for your pupils?

So are we. Cumbria Education Trust has been set up to enable and empower our headteachers to be true leaders of teaching and learning. That’s why we only ask you to manage the budget lines you can influence, and why there is central support for SEND, ICT, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Policies and Governance. Working together with our other seven primary schools, you will be part of a family of schools working as one to improve outcomes across Cumbria.

As Headteacher of Hensigham School you will be leading and managing a successful community school, providing an excellent well-rounded education for our pupils and ensuring and developing the school’s relationship with the wider community.

Your role will be to lead and develop the next stage of development for the school. This will be typified by strong teaching, good standards and progress and excellent personal development.

As well as leading the school to ever more integration, your role will be to raise standards by developing collaboration and partnership at Hensingham, our Trust and with the wider community. You will also ensure the school continues to develop all aspects of school life. You will lead a collaborative learning culture to ensure that every pupil reaches their full potential (being THE BEST THEY CAN BE) in all areas of their development.

Working closely with the community, you’ll promote Hensingham to ensure it remains highly visible and attractive to parents, maintaining and developing local stakeholder networks to maximise influence and support.

A proven leader, team builder and communicator, you must be comfortable in developing and building networks, partnerships and collaborations with the whole school community. You will also have the skills and ability to effectively manage your time, and to ensure that staff are supported, developed and integrate effectively.

You’ll receive positive support from the school’s Local Advisory Board, and Cumbria Education Trust, all of whom are committed to providing a package of support to ensure your long term success and development as a leader within the Trust, and the continued development of the school.

Located in Hensingham on the outskirts of the Lake District, we are surrounded by outstanding natural beauty whilst still having all of the advantages of city life. In addition, we have excellent transport links to Scotland, Manchester and Newcastle.
