Job overview
Inspirational leader required to take us from Good to Outstanding.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an inspirational, unique and motivational communicator to lead Giles Junior School on its journey from Good to Outstanding. The Headteacher vacancy is due to the forthcoming retirement of our existing Headteacher after eight highly successful years at the school.
Giles Junior School is situated in a residential area of Stevenage, North Hertfordshire. In recent years, it has undergone building expansion to facilitate three form entry and is in the second year of this process. The school is adjacent to the Giles Nursery and Infant School, which has its own Headteacher and governing body.
We are looking for an outstanding individual to lead our enthusiastic and hard-working team and who will embrace the concepts and practice of ‘The Leader in Me’ which is firmly embedded throughout the school. The 7Habits are used routinely by children, staff, the leadership team and governors and training on the 7Habits is also being extended to parents and carers to use within the home environment.
The school has an excellent reputation in Stevenage for helping children with SEND and challenging behavioural issues so our new Headteacher will need to be empathetic and keen to work with parents, pupils and colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for these children. The successful candidate must also be willing to take on the role of Designated Senior Person (DSP) for the school.
At Giles Junior School we recognise that people have different needs and believe that treating people equally may not mean treating them all exactly the same. We support all children to enable them to achieve their full potential and we strive to ensure that everyone in our school community is treated fairly, respectfully and with dignity in the school environment.
We are seeking a Headteacher who is:
- An innovative and influential leader who shares our vision and ethos.
- A strong and inspirational leader able to build relationships with all stakeholders
- Able to communicate effectively and influence at all levels
- An advocate for the school community
- Child focused in their approach, putting children at the heart of everything they do
We offer:
- A welcoming and positive school with children who are keen and willing to learn.
- A dedicated and talented staff who are highly motivated to provide our children with stimulating, challenging and memorable learning experiences.
- A commitment to your continued professional development.
- A strong leadership team.
- A supportive team of governors
