At Icknield Everyone Matters! Icknield is a three form entry infant and nursery school located in Letchworth Garden City, north Hertfordshire. We are a caring, creative and cohesive school, who are keen to maintain a simulating and caring environment, so that our pupils become happy, well-balanced individuals, who are able to take an active part in the future global society in which we live. Due to the upcoming retirement of our current Headteacher after 26 dedicated years of successful leadership, the Governors seek to appoint an inspirational and collaborative leader who is passionate about promoting and continuing to improve the high standards of teaching and learning at our wonderful infant and nursery school. At Icknield we strongly believe in promoting excellence, whilst providing a positive atmosphere in which our pupils can feel safe, happy and settled in school. In 2017 Ofsted inspectors commented that we continue to provide a ‘good’ quality education where individual needs are well met and children quickly grow in confidence. In recruiting a new Headteacher we are looking for someone who can share our vision and ethos for Icknield, where ‘everyone matters’. We are seeking a Headteacher who has the enthusiasm, drive and energy to continue to nurture and develop our children. We are looking to appoint a Headteacher who can:

• Continue to raise the best performance for all groups of pupils within a positive and safe environment
• Provide strategy, vision and leadership for teaching and learning across the whole curriculum
• Continue to promote the welfare of children and demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding
• Be able to engage, inspire and work collaboratively with a committed team of teachers, support and administrative staff
• Embrace opportunities for financial growth and potential development of our infant school forging further links with stakeholders, schools and the wider community

We are a one form entry school with 315 pupils on roll at present. We have excellent, well maintained facilities and resources offering staff and children a pleasant and stimulating working environment. The staff at Icknield are a dedicated and supportive team. The children are well behaved and eager to learn. We have strong community links and supportive parents. We are a positive, friendly and successful school where staff are valued and encouraged to develop.
