An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead this growing school as it continues its journey to outstanding, as part of the Sir John Lawes Academies Trust. Harpenden Academy is a co-educational primary school for children aged 4-11 years. Having been set up as a free school it is now ready for its next stage of development.   

At Harpenden Academy you will find our children friendly, well-behaved and eager to learn. We have active and supportive governors, staff and parents, with the additional benefit of the support of a local, small, experienced MAT. There is effective collaboration and partnership within the Trust and local primary Heads’ forum and a strong commitment to continuing professional development.   

To be successful you will be an outstanding leader, who is able to develop and articulate the vision, values and ethos of the academy and who will inspire and empower others to share in achieving it.    

An innovator who will develop creative approaches to enhance the quality of education, you will ensure that they enjoy their education whilst reaching their full potential. We are looking for an excellent communicator who can further strengthen existing positive relationships with parents and families, the governing body and the local community and work collaboratively across the Trust.   

There are easy transport links from Harpenden to the M25, M1 and surrounding areas and the mainline train station is also within easy walking distance. A relocation package may be available.

Harpenden Academy is a new and growing primary school for children aged 4-11 in the heart of Harpenden and it is the first city school within Scholars’ Education Trust. We are housed in an award winning building which marries together a traditional Victorian school with modern architecture befitting the 21st Century.

It is our mission to celebrate children’s learning and encourage their aspirations and leadership skills to equip them for our ever changing world.
