Job overview

We’ve achieved ‘outstanding’ so that’s no longer our focus. But we’re still at the beginning of our journey from two-form entry junior school to multi-academy trust (MAT).

The whole school community - children, parents and teachers - wants a leader with energy and flair, to take our proven academic success even further and to help us define the future direction of our school and academy trust.

So why would you want to lead our school?

Because you would have a great team of both teaching and non-teaching staff around you, supportive, enthusiastic and committed to the school and teaching and learning.

The buildings and working environment have been well maintained by a dedicated site manager. Finances are strong, ensuring the resources are there to deal with any challenges.

You’d have a strong supportive Governing body (also rated Outstanding) with ambition to match your own and one that understands the balance between challenge and support and values staff who seek to develop their skills further.

You’d have a terrific parent body who recently raised thousands of pounds to equip the school with solar panels and have financed many other projects and activities.

And most importantly, our children are happy in a school known for its nurturing environment with a positive behaviour strategy. We think these ingredients make for one of the most enjoyable and rewarding jobs you could find.

What we want from you is a blend of the things we know work and new ideas that drive us towards improved results. You relish the challenge curriculum change and Academy freedom brings and want to use these to make pupil attainment even better so that Fair Field pupils receive the very best of education.

We’re looking for a head whose commitment to digital goes beyond providing the computing curriculum and extends to preparing our pupils for life in a networked world, for an increasingly automated workplace and for the challenges of big data and corporate surveillance.

And you’ll need a commitment to openness and working with the school’s community that goes beyond the weekly newsletter. We want to educate our pupils in an open and collaborative way that achieves the best for them by involving the local community and makes partners of parents, community, businesses and organisations.

And if you are looking for more we are not long established as a MAT, created because we recognised an opportunity to define everything good we did and achieved and offer it in a cooperative way to other schools. This needs developing upon and plans devised to deliver on the ambitions we have. You would enjoy honing your strategic and collaboration skills to develop the values and ethos of the MAT and using your communication skills to articulate the vision and persuade others to join us.

We anticipate you will be an existing Head or an experienced Deputy looking to work with us on the challenges we face and the opportunities our school presents.

There are easy transport links from Radlett to the M25, M1 and surrounding areas and the mainline train station is also within walking distance. A relocation package may be available.

Closing date: 17th March 2017 noon
Interview date: 28th March 2017

Fair Field is an outstanding and popular school (visited by Ofsted in October 2013). With high expectations for all, we provide a supportive and forward thinking environment at the heart of the Radlett community.
